Olivia Barrett
As a designer Olivia challenges bold colour, tactile qualities and the use of mix media to create unique and original outcomes. Olivia’s work focuses on pushing materials to new limits and being playful with her approach. Gathering everyday materials from our surroundings that are often overlooked, she explores their capabilities by manipulating them into different forms, using different surface qualities to encourage interaction and take away materials traditional meanings. Olivia’s work highlights modern design and how textiles can be explored in abstract ways, testing the boundaries and sometimes be over the top.
‘A stressful day at the office’ is a slight humorous take on the routine every day. By using a selection of materials that is often referenced back to children it aims to bring a light-heartedness to corporate spaces and create a positive surrounding to help improve adults health and wellbeing.
